We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate the news that Lover, Liar, Predator, the powerful documentary featuring Own My Life, has been shortlisted for a Grierson Award in the Best Crime and Justice Documentary category (information HERE).

The Grierson Awards, also known as the British Documentary Awards, are one of the most significant celebrations of documentary filmmaking in the UK. Established in 1972, they recognise documentaries from Britain and around the world that demonstrate quality, integrity, creativity, originality and excellence. The Best Crime and Justice Documentary category celebrates films exploring crime, justice or the legal system.

To see Lover Liar Predator recognised in this way is a monumental achievement for everyone involved.

A profound and moving film

Directed by Marta García Aliaga, Lover Liar Predator tells the story of four women who discovered that they had been subjected to abuse and coercive control by the same man, and who came together to seek justice. The film brings their experiences, courage and solidarity into the public eye.

We want to express our enormous gratitude to Marta for her work directing the film, and to the whole production team who created such a profound, moving and ultimately inspiring piece of filmmaking.

Making a film like this requires enormous care. It means listening, witnessing, holding difficult stories with integrity, and creating space for women to speak about what has been done to them. The Grierson Awards themselves place particular emphasis on ethical filmmaking and duty of care in this category, recognising the importance of protecting contributors and production teams while telling stories of crime and justice.

We are grateful for the thought, care and craft that went into bringing this story to audiences.

Visibility that changes lives

For Own My Life, the impact of Lover Liar Predator goes far beyond recognition within the documentary world.

The film has dramatically increased visibility of Own My Life and the work we do to enable women to understand abuse, recognise coercive control, and reclaim ownership of their lives.

That visibility is transformational.

Because people saw the film, women who may never otherwise have encountered Own My Life have been able to find a course. Women are now accessing the knowledge, language, tools and solidarity that can help them understand what has happened to them and begin to own their lives again.

That is what matters most to us.

Behind every course is a woman. Behind every woman is a life, a story, a future and a community. The ripple effects of the film are reaching far beyond the screen.

We are profoundly grateful to the many organisations across the UK and Ireland who run Own My Life courses for women. You are part of this story. Your commitment, generosity and determination to create spaces where women can learn, connect and grow are what make it possible for this work to reach women in communities across these nations.

Thank you for carrying Own My Life into your communities.

Love and solidarity with the sisterhood

And above all, we want to honour the women whose courage made this film possible.

Robyn, Shannon, Jenni and our founder, Natalie Collins.

Thank you for your courage in telling your stories. Thank you for standing together. Thank you for showing what can happen when women believe one another, support one another and refuse to face abusers alone.

Your voices have reached thousands of people. They have opened conversations, challenged silence and helped women find their way to support.

We hold you in love and solidarity, alongside the wider sisterhood of women whose courage, wisdom and determination continue to make change possible.

A moment to celebrate

Being shortlisted for a Grierson Award is an exciting moment for Lover, Liar, Predator and for everyone who worked on it. But it is also a moment to celebrate something bigger: what can happen when powerful storytelling meets women's courage, solidarity and a determination to create change.

We are incredibly proud that Own My Life is part of this story.

Congratulations to Marta Aliaga Garcia and the entire Lover, Liar, Predator team.

Congratulations to Robyn, Shannon, Jenni and Natalie. And thank you to every woman, every course facilitator and every organisation across the UK and Ireland who continues to make it possible for women to own their lives.

It is exciting. It is extraordinary. And it is a monumental achievement for everyone involved.

We are celebrating with love, gratitude and solidarity for the whole sisterhood.
