Tonight (Sunday 1st) at 9pm on BBC Scotland and iPlayer, and tomorrow (Monday 2nd) at 9pm on BBC Two, the documentary Lover, Liar, Predator will be broadcast to audiences across the UK.

It’s a powerful and emotional film; one that sheds light on manipulation, coercive control and abuse, but also on hope, healing and the possibility of transformation. We know that many of you are watching alone, with friends, or as part of watch parties and group discussions, and we’ve been deeply moved by the response already.

If you’re watching Lover, Liar, Predator tonight, tomorrow, or in the weeks ahead, we're delighted to let you know that Own My Life is part of the film's story of hope, justice and sisterhood.

The story doesn’t end with the film

There’s something really important we want to say clearly:

The transformational impact of Own My Life goes far beyond this documentary.

It’s happening every time a woman completes an Own My Life course and begins to see herself differently.

It’s happening week after week as practitioners work in joyful, hope-filled ways alongside women.

It’s happening month after month through training events, learning spaces and growing community.

And because of the dedication, care and courage of Own My Life facilitators across the country, over 20,000 women have been given the resources to own their lives.

That’s a story worth telling!

Your voice matters

We know that the film will stir up thoughts, emotions and reflections: especially for women who have walked the Own My Life journey, whether as participants or facilitators.

That’s why we’re inviting everyone to share their reflections with us. You might choose to share:

  • 🎤 A short voice note about the impact of the film and/or Own My Life on you.

  • 📸 Photos from watch parties or group discussions.

  • ✍️ A few written reflections after watching the documentary.

There’s no “right” way to do this. Honest, imperfect, heartfelt reflections are more than enough.

Why we’re sharing these stories

We’ll be sharing selected contributions on our social media to amplify women’s voices and to help others see that the change shown on screen is real, widespread, and happening in communities everywhere.

These stories remind women that they are not alone — and that transformation is possible.

How to share your reflections

If you’d like to take part:

  • Send your voice notes, photos or written reflections to the Own My Life WhatsApp number (07818 328391).

  • Please include your name and your connection to Own My Life (facilitator, course attendee, or another role)

  • If you’d like to share something privately and not for social media, you’re very welcome to email us instead (info@ownmylifecourse.org).

Thank you for being part of this movement, and for helping to spread hope, courage and sisterhood far beyond the screen.
