Podcast
The first season of our podcast launches in January 2026! Join us as we celebrate women's brilliance and learn about how they have owned their lives.
Tune it to be inspired and educated by women who know what it is to take back ownership of their lives from abusive men.
Podcast producer and host Abi Thomas journeyed the length of the UK to meet with brilliant and brave women who have built beautiful lives, even as each knows the pain of an ex-partner harming them. They share their experiences of the Own My Life sisterhood; attending a course, making sense of their lives, and embracing hope and joy.
Start the new year inspired and educated by Jade, Monty, Clara, Lorna, Tara, Naomi and Helen, on whatever podcast platform works for you.
"Powerful." The Guardian
"The stories on this podcast aren't always easy to hear but they are always inspirational. These women have survived some of the worst experiences imaginable, yet regained control of their lives and their sense of self. There's no pretence that it's an easy journey, and there are no glib answers, but the message is that it's achievable. A must-listen for domestic abuse survivors and practitioners, and anyone seeking a fuller understanding of the control and entitlement that sit at the heart of domestic abuse." Baroness Polly Neate
"May all women feel the same joy, of being able to reclaim their homes, as well as the streets, as part of reclaiming ownership of their lives, thanks to Own My Life. This podcast is a must-listen, especially for those of us who feel worn down by the misery of endless male violence; women are reclaiming their lives and filling them with joy, which is exactly what they deserve." Jo Costello, Rape Crisis
"Own My Life podcast brings listeners into the real-life experiences of survivors of domestic abuse. Through thoughtful, well-crafted interviews, each episode offers a deeper understanding of their journeys and the strength it took to survive...It is a powerful listen for anyone wanting to learn more about domestic abuse and coercive control, as well as for professionals working in the field." Clare Laxton
"If you are a survivor that isn't yet ready to seek help from others but you need a perspective that doesn't come from him, if you are a survivor who is still struggling to make sense of their experiences, if you are a friend or family member of someone who is being abused and you want to help, if you are a professional who wants to deepen your knowledge or if you are tired of the sad stereotype of meek and passive victims and would like to hear some more positive and joyful stories of survival - this podcast is for you." Davina James-Hanman
"the focus on finding points of joy (where holding your joy is an act of resistance to a perpetrator) is really powerful to witness. Abi as a host is relaxed, non-judgemental and creates a space where guests can share deeply personal stories with honesty and hope. At a time when statistics continue to rise, Own My Life reminds us that with the right support and resources, people can survive abusive relationships and move forward in their healing. Domestic violence does not have to be a life sentence.” Kirsty Dillon
