This week, Own My Life is proud to be in Falkirk to officially launch a powerful new resource; our easy read materials, developed in partnership with Central Advocacy Partners (CAP).
Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside Central Advocacy Partners, who support learning disabled people across Scotland's Forth Valley, to ensure our Own My Life is accessible to all women, including those who often find domestic abuse support inaccessible.

As part of their Survivors Project, Central Advocacy Partners piloted the Own My Life course with learning disabled and Autistic women (read about that HERE). The feedback from the women involved was clear: they deserved resources that spoke directly to them, in language and formats that reflected their needs and strengths.
So we listened, collaborated, and co-produced.
The result is a suite of easy read materials that break down complex ideas into clear, engaging, and accessible content — empowering more women to take back ownership of their lives, stories, and futures.
We’re thrilled that Scotland on Sunday has recognised the significance of this work and will be covering our launch event in Falkirk tomorrow! You can read more about it here:🔗 Pioneering domestic abuse course to help disabled and autistic women
We want to thank every woman who shared her experience, every advocate who championed this work, and the incredible team at CAP for their commitment, expertise, and belief in the power of inclusive practice.
Tomorrow's event isn’t just a launch — it’s a celebration of accessibility, partnership, and the right of every woman to own her life.
Stay tuned for updates from Falkirk and more about how these new resources will be rolled out across the UK.
Together, we’re making sure no one is left behind. 💜
