It was great to meet in June with Own My Life facilitators from across our network. Thanks who attended and made it a great place to connect and share. We split into smaller groups so that everyone was able to share their experiences, tips and queries.
Do join us for the next one on Thursday 29th August at 10am, CLICK HERE to book in.

This time we also managed to talk about the first two parts of the emotional regulation sheet which can be found HERE. Please do try out some of the techniques.
In the meeting, we talked about preparing for our first programme and discussed the benefits of having a mid-point review with each participant as a really useful way of gauging what was working for them and to help identify and iron out any issues.

Two of the issues that came up and the discussions that were had about these were:
Â
What if a woman can’t make Session 1?
It’s understandable that sometimes a session could clash with a court hearing or a meeting with another professional; each organisation will have a way of dealing with how to make up the odd session or maximum of two sessions that are missed.
The first session is crucially the first time everyone is getting to meet each other and setting their goals & expectations for the next 12 weeks.
Creating a safe, connected, predictable space for the women means it could be quite unsettling for someone new to suddenly arrive later & change the dynamics of the group.
There may be occasions when you can make it work, e.g. if the women already know each other from previous groups etc. but by always keeping in mind the space we’re trying to build & create for the whole group, we should hopefully be able to navigate issues that come up, in their best interests
What if a woman is keeping her camera off?
Luckily you can refer to THESE Zoom Protocols, that women should have been sent in advance of your online course starting. Keeping cameras on is a criteria for taking part in the course; so feel free to blame Own My Life HQ for the requirement!
It would be helpful to go through the Zoom Protocols with each woman as part of your general Own My Life intake process, including having a general discussion about minimising distractions i.e. not cooking or cleaning (it’s been known to happen!) so that we can all be present during the session, both for ourselves and for each other.
An example intake form can also be found HEREÂ (5. in the grey section).
