Own My Life Becomes an Our Safer City Partner to Strengthen Support for Women and Girls

Our Safer City and Own My Life are proud to announce their new partnership, joining a growing network of organisations committed to ensuring that women and girls across the City of London are safe from violence and are supported, and empowered.

This milestone builds on Own My Life’s impactful work with the Metropolitan Police, where female officers, staff, and volunteers have accessed Own My Life courses after being subjected to abuse by a partner. Through this collaboration, Own My Life has witnessed first-hand the profound difference that workplace support can make.

Women within the Met have described Own My Life as personally life-changing and professionally transformative. Participants report that Own My Life has enabled them to remain in the police force, pursue promotions, and in their policing role, see more abusive men held accountable. Many have also noted improvements in their wellbeing, including reduced sick leave.

These outcomes have strengthened Own My Life’s commitment to expanding workplace-based support for women subjected to abuse. Own My Life believes that every workplace has a vital role to play in empowering women to rebuild their lives and careers after abuse.

Our Safer City is leading a City-wide effort to ensure that the City of London is fully resourced to protect women and girls - whether in public spaces, at home, or in the workplace. This shared mission aligns closely with Own My Life’s vision.

Through this new partnership, Own My Life will contribute its expertise and evidence-based method to help ensure that all women and girls have access to the resources they need to reclaim their independence, confidence, and future after abuse.
