REFLECTION GROUPS
In order to support Own My Life course facilitators, we are piloting Reflective Groups which are reflective practice group sessions for organisations running the course. These one-hour sessions provide facilitators with the space to safely reflect on their facilitation and to process the ways sessions have worked (or not!). As reflective practice is a core part of the course method, we hope these sessions will enable you to more effectively deliver the course.
How do the sessions work?
You can book a one-off session, or book in sessions throughout your course facilitation. Over Zoom, Ave Kotze will facilitate a space for you and other facilitators within your organisation to reflect on course delivery and consider how delivery could be further developed and enhanced.

Who is Ave Kotze?
Ave says: "I am a woman, daughter, wife, mum and a survivor of domestic abuse (a long time ago now). I work as an trainee counselling psychologist and have had training in Person Centred therapy, trauma and various ‘Third wave’ CBT therapeutic approaches. I value sincerity and openness and try to apply compassion into my everyday life and work. I am passionate about empowering victims of domestic abuse to take back control over their lives and I truly believe Own My Life course is a great place to start. I have trained to run the course and look forward to offering this online space to enable you to best facilitate the course while looking after yourself too. Our space together would be safe, supportive, compassionate and reflective, where no question is a silly question and where learning comes from shared experiences.

How much are the sessions and how many people can attend?
The sessions are £30 per practitioner and there must be a minimum of two practitioners to make the sessions viable. There can be a maximum of eight practitioners in the session.

When would we be best placed to have sessions?
You are welcome to try a one-off session when you are delivering the course. If you would appreciate support throughout the course, we advise having three sessions;
-
In advance of starting to run a course.
-
After Session 6 (the mid-point of the course).
-
After Session 12 (the end of the course).

When are sessions available?
Given that this is a pilot, there is limited availability as Ave will be fitting these sessions around her full-time job. Sessions can be offered:
-
Monday – Thursday from 5.30pm
-
Friday from 5pm
-
Weekends, if necessary.
